There are certain educational games like the French Word Game that is fun, challenging and stimulates our mind to grow our vocabulary. Many traditional educators are now making use of the technology provided by mobile apps and games to help students learn. There are many benefits to using a mobile app as part of a holistic approach to education. One of the top benefits of playing the French Word Game is that you can play it 24 hours a day, whenever you have a chance. This fact means that education does not stand still when the child is at home. Rather, the educational process and growing of the vocabulary can occur anytime the game player has a free moment at home.

These digital tools for education help fill in the small gaps of education as they are perceived to be fun, challenging, and measurable. The measurability component of educational mobile apps is quite helpful. The games offer levels of achievement. These levels make it easier to identify the game player’s progress and helps in motivating the game player to continue. Sometimes healthy competition among peers is a good motivator for educational purposes. This game we mention called the French Word Game, is a remarkably interesting game. It provides the game player with 4 images. These 4 photos then refer to 1 word. It is quite a nice learning experience to see how 4 different images can create 1 word. This experience helps to stimulate the game player’s mind and thus increases creative thinking as well as the general vocabulary. These types of mind puzzles are very popular as they are actually quite tricky and difficult to solve. This also promotes students working in groups to solve the word puzzle together.

According to Educause's 7 Things You Should Know About Game Based Learning, games can:

  • Promote active learning by students.
  • Healthy competition increases motivation.
  • Identify student’s skills while providing short term achievement rewards to promote them feeling like they are moving forward and making progress.
  • Provides a safe place to fail and try again, which helps to identify failure as not a permanent setback or final outcome, but rather that the student needs to keep learning more.
  • Students over time realise the relationship between their methods and their strategy. This helps them realise how to set a specific goal and use the relationship of strategy and tactics to progress.
  • Educational games also known as a Digital Pedagogy helps to identify alternative routes to problem solving. The game player may realise that different paths in game play lead to the same goal or the same desired outcome.
  • Assists in growing competence and confidence while promoting independent thought to complete the entire game, thus improving follow through and persistence of the student.

It will be exciting to see how the use of mobile technology improves the educational process for young students. The technology to learn dynamically on your own time while you are mobile, is truly a helpful educational tool for the future.
