Description

Nominations for ASP Conservationist Awards and Grants are now being sought by the American Society of Primatologists (ASP). These awards and grants, funded from the ASP Conservation Fund, are a mechanism to recognize deserving colleagues and students, including those from primate habitat countries – countries with native primate fauna – for whom the prestige of an ASP award or grant can be a valuable aid to the recipient’s conservation efforts.

Eligibility

Eligible candidates include students, researchers, and educators from primate habitat countries for whom no more than five years have elapsed since receipt of their terminal degree;

Eligible countries: Belize, Algeria, El Salvador, Morocco, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Lao People’s Dem. Rep., China, Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, Guatemala, México, Myanmar (Burma), Bangladesh, Thailand, Sri Lanka, India, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Nigeria, Liberia, Madagascar, Brazil, Equatorial, Guinea, Côte d’Ivoire, Sierra Leone, Guinea-Bissau, Bhutan, Philippines, Honduras, Nicaragua, Singapore, Ghana, Gabon, Venezuela, Cameroon, Senegal, Peru, Ecuador, Burkina Faso, Tanzania, Congo, Bolivia, Rwanda, Benin, Congo, Democratic Rep. of Togo, Gambia, Uganda, Mali, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname, Angola, Central African Republic, Burundi, Ethiopia , Sudan, Kenya, Japan, Taiwan, Province of Zambia, Mozambique, Somalia, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Argentina, Chad , Paraguay, South Africa, Swaziland, Eritrea, Nepal, Niger, Botswana, Mauritania, Namibia, Djibouti, Pakistan , Afghanistan, Lesotho, Saudi Arabia, Timor-Leste, Trinidad and Tobago, Yemen.

Grant

  • The award of up to USD 750 will be given;
  • This award provides recognition and financial support for students and early career investigators from habitat countries who demonstrate a potential for making significant and continuing contributions to primate conservation.
