Walt Disney Company offers an internship opportunity in machine learning in California, USA. The trainee will work with engineers in the engineering Services departments of the company to develop and implement new and innovative tools to solve problems and challenges that appear in the company's films during its manufacture.

Responsibilities:

This internship will involve working in partnership with studio engineers to develop a prototype SlackBot that can provide answers to basic questions. 

The project hopes to leverage Natural Language Processing to interpret questions from the internal community and use machine learning to answer these questions. Since this is a research prototype, there will be a great deal of flexibility in how the project is approached and what questions are answered.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience with Python and machine learning libraries.
  • Experience with the Slack communication tool or other API connected chat programs.
  • Experience with REST API’s.
  • Some experience with Machine Learning and AI.
  • An understanding of Natural Language Processing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with secure API access using OIDC and SAML.
  • Experience with Social Media Platforms and API’s.
  • Interest in interactive products like Siri and Amazon Alexa.

Required Education:

The applicant should be a recent graduate (within 6 months of graduating) or pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics or related field.

Program Length:

The approximate dates of this internship are May/June 2020 - August/September 2020. Interns must be available to work full-time for the duration of the internship.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within the past 6 months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship.
  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization.
  • Must provide full work availability.
  • Must provide own transportation to/from work.
  • Current Active Disney cast members must meet Professional Internship transfer guidelines.
