King’s Academy in Jordan is offering a group of exceptional job opportunities for teachers to join the professional team for 2020. King’s Academy provides a world-class education to over 600 girls and boys from over 35 countries across grades 7-12. A boarding and day school in Jordan, King’s Academy offers unparalleled opportunity to students from all backgrounds. Over 50 percent of students receive financial support, and college matriculations from King’s span universities on six continents, including some of the most selective universities in the United States, the United Kingdom and elsewhere.  

Faculty members:

  1. Chemistry (Upper School)

Requirements:

  1. Four to five class sections (20-22 periods a week) and responsibility for 60-70 students
  2. Two seasons of co-curriculars (four afternoons a week for two seven-week seasons)
  3. Residential, supervisory and committee responsibilities
  4. Advisory role to a group of six students (on average)
  5. Evening duty up to twice a week and weekend duty once every five or six weeks
  6. Furthermore, faculty members are expected to attend special events and meetings including those occasionally scheduled on weekends, such as new faculty orientation, student orientation, faculty meetings, departmental meetings, house meetings, advisor meetings, parents weekends and Commencement.
  7. Various educational and character-building activities for students (e.g. community service) take place on weekends and during the summer. Faculty members are expected to volunteer as chaperones as per their interest and if selected to perform such duties during these trips. 
  8. King’s Academy seeks faculty members who can coach sports such as soccer, basketball, volleyball (varsity level), tennis, swimming and weight training as well as lead co-curricular activities such as publications, MUN, debate, drama and yoga.
  9. In short, being a teacher at King's requires spirit and dedication. The qualities that the faculty recognizes as most essential to their success include patience, energy, resilience, a genuine love of young people, sensitivity to cultural differences, adaptability and a commitment, in the classroom and beyond, to continued improvement.
  10. Experience in teaching advanced courses is a requirement.
  11. Resumes are accepted throughout the year, but most interviewing takes place between December and February at school, a mutually agreed upon location, recruiting fairs or possibly via Skype. Ideally, a face-to-face interview will take place with each candidate.
