King’s Academy is offering a job opportunity to hire a Director of Annual Giving. This new position at King’s Academy is intended to help develop a habit of giving and a culture of philanthropy among parents, alumni, friends, and other prospective supporters. The position will play a large role in an upcoming major capital campaign. 

Main Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive, year-long Annual Giving plans
  • Strengthen a culture of philanthropy among parents, alumni, friends, faculty, and staff:
    1. Develop communications programs to demonstrate results from contributions
    2. Build relationships with key constituents
    3. Expand donor recognition efforts
    4. Increase participation in strategic segments
  • Maintain a portfolio of leadership annual giving prospects
  • Coordinate closely with advancement colleagues to improve processes and systems related to events, data, gifts, and other essential functions for an effective annual giving program.

Detailed Position Responsibilities:

Fundraising:

  • Direct and implement a comprehensive, year-long annual giving plan in collaboration with advancement colleagues, school administration, key volunteers, key faculty and staff, to meet yearly goals both for participation and giving. 
  • Work with key volunteers and school administration to devise strategies and programs to ensure the effective integration of Annual Giving into the overall King’s advancement program, especially with regard to special parent and alumni fundraising programs.
  • Work with donor relations staff to more effectively recognize donor contributions to King’s by strengthening and highlighting gift clubs, successive year giving, a special project giving and first time giving, among other recognition opportunities.
  • Maintain a portfolio of assigned leadership annual giving prospects and donors, researching potential donors, updating donor profiles, developing stewardship plans, organizing personal visits and solicitations, and, when appropriate and strategically helpful, utilizing the Head of School, the Associate Head of School, or other school leaders or Trustees to enhance donor stewardship and cultivation.
  • Lead an effort to rebrand and grow the overall Annual Giving program, in terms of dollars and donor participation, with a special focus on leadership annual giving donors.

Communications:

  • Responsible for all fundraising messaging to annual prospects including development, execution, tracking, and analysis of solicitations (hard copy, electronic, social media, etc.) and where appropriate and effective, organizing volunteer engagement, phonathons, and personal visits.
  • Strengthen a culture of philanthropy at King’s by helping to identify key messaging and external communications programs and strategic timetables to effectively engage and educate stakeholders, donors and potential donors about the school’s mission, and encourage donations in support of this mission.
  • Provide input for communications related to development activities, working closely with the Department of Communications and Publications, the Associate Head of School for Advancement, and advancement staff to create special communication materials that solicit and promote giving, and encourage a culture of philanthropy.

Team management:

  • Supervise and provide guidance to staff in areas relating to gift processing, reporting, event tracking, volunteer engagement, annual giving, and stewardship.
  • Provide guidance to and track fundraising metrics for the advancement team, regarding solicitations and stewardship for leadership annual gifts from parents and alumni.

Metrics and ongoing growth:

  • Manage and track activities to ensure that annual giving campaigns are effective, within budget, and on schedule.
  • Stay abreast of best practices and effective technologies and techniques related to fundraising and solicitations and be willing to participate in on-going professional development activities.

Qualifications and Prerequisites:

  • 5+ years of experience in development or related fields
  • Strong knowledge of annual giving, volunteer management, and direct marketing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal skills
  • Creative thinking and demonstrated ability to affect growth in desired results
  • Strong interest in mission-driven, education-focused organizations
  • High level of attention to detail, with an ability to analyze data and produce giving reports
  • Consummate team player who is comfortable working with a wide range of people
  • Experience working within comprehensive fundraising campaigns is a plus
  • Coming from a multicultural background and knowledge of Middle Eastern culture and the Arabic language are a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Being willing to work in an office environment with frequent interruptions 
  • Occasional weekend and evening work expected. Some local and international travel will be required.
