Al Jazeera Documentary Short Film Competition, held under the supervision of Al Jazeera Documentary Channel, is dedicated to students and young people from January 01 to February 15, 2020. The competition is organized by the Al Jazeera Documentary Website.

Al Jazeera Documentary Short Film Competition aims to discover and embrace talented students and youth as they are the future of documentary film-making in the Arab world. This competition will also represent a milestone in their career.

Eligibility criteria:

  1. Applicants must be between 16 and 26 years old.
  2. The duration of the film should not be less than 2 minutes and not exceed 7 minutes.
  3. The film must be in HD quality or higher.
  4. All works produced in languages other than the Arabic language must include translations in Arabic.
  5. Films can include any topic that serves a personal or public cause, but the idea must be clear.
  6. You may submit one film only.
  7. You can submit a film that's already published.
  8. Winning films in other competitions will not be accepted.
  9. The film must have been shot during the last two years at the time of application.

Al Jazeera Documentary Awards for Short Films 2020:

  1. First prize: 3000 dollars
  2. Second prize: 2000 dollars
  3. Third prize: 1000 dollars

Any movie chosen within the ten finalists may be presented on Al Jazeera Documentary Channel.
