The Nordic Africa Institute in Sweden is offering the 2020 African Guest Researchers’ Scholarship Program for postdoctoral researchers based in Africa to work and develop their ongoing research. It is an opportunity for postdoctoral researchers in Africa to pursue their own research projects, thereby indirectly strengthening the academic life in African countries. The scholarship offers access to the Institute's library and other resources that provide for a stimulating research environment. Through the program, the Nordic Africa Institute aims to contribute to building capacity in the production of knowledge about Africa, and to promote and establish relations with and between African and Nordic research communities. The maximum duration of the stay is 90 days, minimum is 60 days. Also note that most academic institutions in the Nordic countries, including the Nordic Africa Institute, are closed or at least running at a reduced capacity during the periods 15 June–15 August and 15 December–15 January. Applicants can thus not choose these periods for their visit.
The Nordic Africa Institute conducts research and offers resources that help further understanding about contemporary Africa. It believes that research-based knowledge and analysis offer a solid base for informed decisions and contribute to the fulfilment of the global development agenda. The Nordic Africa Institute (NAI) houses a combination of high-quality research, skilled communication and an extensive library collection on contemporary Africa, all under one roof. At NAI, cutting-edge research intersects policy dialogue and a full-service library, resulting in a unique setting for Africa studies in the Nordics.
