Al-Jazeera Media Network is offering a job opportunity in Washington D.C, USA. As it is looking for a skilled, creative and enthusiastic Associate News-Gathering Producer to join the newsroom within AJ+ English platform. Two days are never the same at AJ+ so it is looking for someone who enjoys the thrill of working in an unpredictable newsroom and thrives under pressure.

The AJ+ newsroom works on a rotation, which means the selected candidate will be helping create a variety of content for its social media platforms. He/she will be pitching, scripting and editing short daily news videos, but will also work closely with Producers and Senior Producers to support the production of longform, in-depth pieces. With the guidance of AJ+s editorial leadership, Associate News-Gathering Producer is helping create sharp, hard-hitting and exciting videos for a diverse audience.

Job Requirements / Qualifications:

Proven experience in video production or online Journalism.
At least 1 year experience in an editorial position.
A proven track record of success.
All teams in the newsroom work with tight deadlines, so the role requires someone who can work quickly and can remain calm under stress.
AJ+ ideal candidate is someone who is creative, has great news judgment, can work on multiple projects simultaneously and can think on their feet.

Key Responsibilities:

Help conduct research.
Find and gather appropriate visuals for assigned stories - this includes from wire services and third parties/persons.
Find and reach out to potential interviewees who can be included in assigned stories to add nuance and analytical depth.
Pitch, script, and edit daily news videos.
Work closely with Producers and Senior Producers to help bring longer pieces to completion.
Conduct fact checks.
Contribute to conversations around editorial and creative ideas in meetings and discussions.
Assess new information and react quickly to editorial developments.
Carry out duties in line with Al Jazeera editorial guidelines and ethics.
