Google is offering an internship opportunity to a group of people. This group includes women, ethnic minorities and students with disabilities. Bachelor's students currently majoring, or intending to major in computer science or related technical fields are encouraged to apply.

Minimum qualifications:

The applicant is currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program.
The applicant has taken one or more Computer Science courses by the time of application.
The applicant has Experience programming in C, C++, or Java.
The applicant has Experience scripting in at least one common language (e.g., Perl, Python, Shell, etc.).

Preferred qualifications:

The applicant is Currently enrolled in a program majoring or intending to major in Computer Science or a related field.
The applicant has Programming experience in Java, Python, C and/or C++.
The applicant is Fluency in Japanese.
Work authorization in Japan.

About the Internship:

The Internship is divided into two parts:

Development Course [Optional]

The first part of the program is aimed at developing students’ technical and soft skills.
We will hold a total of 8 classes, with the goal of providing students knowledge that will support them in their future studies and career.
Upon successful completion, students will be eligible to apply for the second half of STEP.
Please note that this course will be held in Japanese.
Start Date: 15th May 2020.
Course Duration: 8 classes held once a week, every Friday, 5pm (3 hours long).
Internship Location: Google Tokyo Office (Travel costs will be reimbursed if you live 1.5 hours away from office).
Internship Language: Class will be held mainly in Japanese

Hands-on Internship

The second half of the program will be a paid internship, in which successful applicants will be assigned to a core software project.
You will work with a team of Googlers and will be mentored by a Google engineer to guide you through your internship.
Intern projects will be determined based on the experience, skills, and interests of each student.
Internship Start Date: 27th July 2020.
Internship Duration: 8 - 17 weeks (length and start date may vary depending on project scope and student’s availability).
Internship Location: Google Tokyo Office (commute allowance is covered).
