Online Volunteer Opprtunity for Graphic designers: Preparing World Urban Forum Reports

UNVolunteers platform is offering a volunteer opportunity, as it is looking for two skilled individuals to help United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat Kenya) in Graphic design and page layout of 10th Session World Urban Forum Reports.

Organized and convened by the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat), the World Urban Forum has become the premier international gathering for exchanging views and experiences on urban challenges. The inclusive nature of the Forum, combined with high-level participation, makes it a unique United Nations conference and the premier international gathering on urban issues. UN-Habitat Human Rights and Social Inclusion unit organized many youth related events during the 10th World Urban Forum in Abu Dhabi in February 2020. One of the publications is a detailed outcomes report which outlines the future collaborations and highlights that came out of WUF10. Secondly, the other publication is a report on the WUF10 Urban Youth Assembly and Special Session on culture, youth and innovation which includes different perspectives on the interconnectedness of youth and culture framed in the context of sustainable urbanisation to provide a knowledge foundation of one of the main themes of this year’s forum. 

Duration and working hours:

1-5 hours per week for overall two weeks.

Eligible candidates:

  1. An artistic and creative person, with good expertise in page layout and design skills; 
  2. The applicant should have at least one year of substantive professional experience in design and page layout; 
  3. Good command of English language.

Volunteers' duties:

  1. Assist in the graphic design and layout of two report publications. The graphic design of the brochure and the report in a simple, attractive and professional display. 
  2. The online volunteers are urgently needed for this assignment to start working on the publications. UN-Habitat will provide support by means of the images, logos and any other additional information to be used as well as reviewing and assisting in implementing changes to drafts. 
  3. The Online Volunteer will be accorded due credit for their collaboration.

Required supporting materials:

The applicant will be required to provide previous samples of his/ her work; If interested, submit their CVs clearly highlighting previous experience on a similar assignment/s as this. In your application, and include web links to portfolio or to samples of previous works.
