The United Nations is seeking final-year students and graduates from anywhere in the world to apply for the Environment Affairs Internship that will take place in Beirut, Lebanon for 2021. 

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in substantive research and reviews related to the work of the Sub-program, in the areas of Sustainable Development, Water, Climate Change, Energy, Environment, Food Security/Agriculture, and/or Green Technology.
  2. Contribute to background notes, talking points and policy briefs for activities related to the Sub-program.
  3. Support all activities of the Sub-program, both substantively and administratively.
  4. Assist in other ad-hoc activities in the Sub-program, when necessary, as instructed by the supervisor.

Education:

  1. Be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
  2. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent).
  3. Have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation.
  4. Be computer literate, especially in Word and Excel. 
  5. Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
  6. Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Languages:

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. Arabic is also a working language of ESCWA. For this post, fluency in written and spoken English is required. Knowledge of Arabic and French is desirable.
