The In-Country/In-Region DAAD Scholarship in SLGA is open for application. The In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Program Strengthening Advisory Capacities for Land Governance in Africa (SLGA) aims to offer scholarships for postgraduate studies within the Network of Excellence for Land Governance in Africa (NELGA).

The program is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) within the framework of the special initiative “One World – No Hunger”. The programme is open for Master and PhD applicants at the Institut Agronomique et Vétérinaire Hassan II, Rabat, Morocco.

  • Fields of study: Studies in subject areas with strong relevance to land governance.
  • Number of awards: 6 (One for Master and 5 for PhD).

In-Country/In-Region DAAD Scholarship in SLGA Benefits

Selected applicants for the DAAD Scholarship in SLGA will have the following benefits:

  1. Annually Tuition fees;
  2. Annually Study and research allowance;
  3. One Printing allowance at the end of the program;
  4. Monthly Scholarship (Accommodation, Food etc.);
  5. In-Region only: Two Travel allowances (beginning/end of scholarship);
  6. Insurance (In-Region only).

In-Country/In-Region DAAD Scholarship in SLGA Eligibility

To apply for the In-Country/In-Region DAAD Scholarship in SLGA, candidates must meet all the following requirements:

  1. have successfully completed generally with above average results (upper forth of class):
    • at least a three-year university degree within IAV Hassan II for Msc candidates in surveying Engineering
    • an Engineering certificate or a Master’s degree certificate (five-year degree program) for doctoral candidates.
  2. clearly show motivation and strong commitment;
  3. have thorough knowledge of the language of instruction;
  4. have completed their last university degree not more than 6 years ago at the time of application;
  5. must be nationals or permanent resident of an African country;
  6. should generally be
    1. staff member of a public university;
    2. candidate considered for teaching or research staff recruitment;
    3. from the public sector.

Female applicants and candidates from less privileged regions or groups are especially encouraged to participate in the program. Scholarships are initially granted for one year and can be extended to a maximum of the regular period of study upon receipt of an application for extension. Scholars must demonstrate satisfactory progress before an extension is granted.

Application instructions

Eligible applicants who would like to apply for the In-Country/In-Region DAAD Scholarship in SLGA must follow steps below:

First step:

IAV Hassan II application deadline is February 13th, 2020 for Msc. degree Candidates and April 20th, 2020 for PhD Candidates.

Second step:
IAV Hassan II will provide the shortlisted candidates with the link to the DAAD-Portal. Only the pre-selected candidates are asked to log into the DAAD portal, register themselves and submit a DAAD application.

Required Documents

  1. DAAD application form duly filled in (available in the DAAD-Portal);
  2. Hand signed curriculum vitae (please use the European specimen form), including a list of publications (if applicable);
  3. 1 Recommendation letter by university teachers for Msc degree;
  4. 2 Recommendation letters by university teachers for Phd program;
  5. Letter of admission for the host university;
  6. Certified copies of university degree certificates including transcripts;
  7. Letter of motivation;
  8. Copy of the passport;
  9. Declaration of acceptance from the academic supervisor (PhD candidates only);
  10. Detailed and precise PhD proposal, including detailed work and time table (PhD candidates only);
  11. Abstract of the proposal on one page (please include name and title of proposal (PhD candidates only).

All documents must be submitted in either English, French or German.
