Applications for the Vice-Chancellor UKM Scholarships programme are currently being accepted. The scholarship programme is fully funded and has been created to attract prospective students locally and abroad to pursue Masters and Doctoral degree at the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Malaysia.

The Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia scholarships are open to all local and international prospective postgraduate students who have outstanding academic achievement records and have registered online to UKM. Two types of scholarships are offered: UKM ViceChancellor’s Gold and Silver Scholarships.

  • Fields of Study: Social Sciences and Humanities, Science and Technology, Economics and Management, Pharmacy, Islamic Studies, Health Sciences, Engineering and Built Environment, Law, Dentistry, Education, Medicine, Information Science and Technology, Business (available graduate programmes at the university).

Vice-Chancellor UKM Scholarships Benefits

Recipients of the Vice-Chancellor UKM Scholarships will have following benefits depending on the type of scholarship they have been selected for:

Gold Vice-Chancellor’s Award

  1. Waived tuition (every semester);
  2. registration (one-time);
  3. service and activities (including thesis and convocation) fees;
  4. Living allowance of RM3200.00 per month for PhD. and RM2200.00 for Masters;
  5. Accommodation allowance of RM300.00 per month;
  6. One round trip flight ticket (economy class) to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) from home country and to home country from KLIA for International, Sabahan and Sarawakian candidates;
  7. Cost of visa throughout postgraduate studies (International students only).

Silver Vice-Chancellor’s Award

  1. Waived registration (one-time);
  2. tuition (every semester) fees;
  3. Living allowance of RM2000.00 per month for PhD. and RM1500.00 for Masters candidates;
  4. Accommodation allowance of RM300.00 per month.

Vice-Chancellor UKM Scholarships Eligibility

Applicants must not receive any assistance/scholarships from any sponsor/ Federal/State or any other Statutory Bodies. Applicants must not receive any salary or allowance or other payment from any institution or company.

Furthermore, candidates must satisfy following criteria depending on the type of award.

Gold Vice-Chancellor’s Award Applicants Must Be:

  1. Excellent local and international students depending on the decision of the Vice-Chancellor of UKM; or
  2. Outstanding local and international students selected by the Selection Committee who meet the following qualifications:
    • Applicant ought to be registered as full-time postgraduate student by Research or Mixed Mode (research: coursework ratio 70:30).
    • For MSc applicant, candidates must have obtained Bachelor’s Degree with Distinction CGPA of at least of 3.67 or a First Class Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from a reputable university AND must show credibility as a scholar.
    • For PhD applicant, candidates must have obtained Master’s degree or equivalent from a reputable university; MUST have published at least TWO (2) articles in Q2 journal and above as first student author.

Silver Vice-Chancellor’s Award Applicants Must Be:

Outstanding local and international students selected by the Selection Committee who meet the following qualifications:

  • Applicant ought to be registered as full-time postgraduate student by Research or Mixed Mode (research: coursework ratio 70:30).
