University Nottingham is offering PhD scholarships in Mechanical Engineering at the UNNC are composed of 3 years research and a 1 year thesis pending period for full time PhDs. Full time PhDs are expected to submit their thesis within a maximum of four years from initial registration. PhD supervision is undertaken jointly by academics from the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) and the University of Nottingham UK (UNUK). On successful completion, students will be awarded the University of Nottingham PhD degree, The University of Nottingham PhD degree will be accredited by the Chinese Ministry of Education.

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must have a first class honours undergraduate degree or 65% and above for a Masters’ degree from a British university, or the equivalent from other institutions.
  • Applicants must meet the required English language proficiency for the relevant subject area. 
  • IELTS 6.5 (minimum 6.0 in all elements) or its equivalent is required for Faculty of Science and Engineering (FoSE) scholarship applicants.

  • Successful candidates also have the opportunity to carry out paid teaching 

Scholarship Period:

It is composed of 3 years research and a 1 year thesis pending period for full time PhDs. 

Required Documents:

  1. A completed application form (all fields filled)
  2. A research proposal
  3. Degree certificates for undergraduate and postgraduate studies with English translation.
  4. Official transcripts  from undergraduate and postgraduate studies and their English translation. 
  5. Two references must be emailed to PGR@nottingham.edu.cn directly by the referees 
  6. English Language test score report (IELTS/PTE academic etc.) if applicable (not required for native English speakers).
  7. A copy of passport (international applicants).
  8. An electronic copy of passport-sized photo taken within three months of this application.
  9. A brief CV.
  10. A Personal Statement 
  11. A copy of your Masters’ dissertation, or a published paper or conference paper, or a sample of your writing work.
  12. Any supporting documents , if applicable, e.g. published papers, conference papers, patents, etc.
