Erasmus Intern is offering an internship opportunity in Amsterdam, Netherlands  as Nutritionist/Food Technologist at Healthy & Affordable. That is an independent social business from Sapient whose aim is to reduce the amount of food being wasted in Amsterdam, starting from its collection till its new market launch. Indeed, this unwanted food is first collected from food suppliers and then dehydrated, frozen and pickled in order to be ready to be packed up and finally put in the market again. Moreover, all the profit that we earn by selling our products is invested in the fight against food waste in Amsterdam.

Internship duration and working hours:

  • Part-time for three months, however you can choose the duration that suits you best (minimum of three months). Moreover, you can choose your own working hours as full-time or part-time as long as you strictly follow the program you set for yourself.
  • ·Due to Corona restrictions, it is possible to work remotely for certain positions. It's also possible to work from our office Ferdinand Huyckstraat 62, 1061 HW Amsterdam.

Eligible candidates:

·Majoring (or has majored)  in Food Science, Nutrition, Chemistry or related field,

  • Good communication skills, 
  • Excellent English speaking and writing skills,
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic organization, with various functional disciplines,
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as with internal and external clients,
  • Qualified to develop recipes for new products: source new ingredients, play with formulas, and testing,
  • Enjoys working in an international, challenging and social environment. 
  • Believes in:

Internship duties:

·Discuss and advise product development and shelf life (previous product development experience is a plus!) 

  • Sampling/testing finished goods for customs purposes.
  • Develop recipes for new products: source new ingredients, play with product development, formulas, and testing. 
  • Actively suggest the idea for improving current products with regard to both cost and quality. 
  • Ensure all product labels comply with EU legislation, government guidelines and Company policies.
  • Execute the food safety and quality strategy.
