Apply for the Frank Finn Scholarships at the University of Queensland. The scholarship offers an annual income for students in the fields of Business and Economics.

The University may award up to ten scholarships each year for students enrolled full-time in the Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) programs for domestic students in accordance with The University’s Fee Policy.

The scholarship was established in 2008 from funds donated to an endowment fund established in acknowledgement of Professor Frank Finn’s lifetime of service to the University and the field of finance. Professor Finn held several positions within the University including: Dean of the Faculty Commerce and Economics; Head of the School of Commerce; and the Director of Studies, the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law.

Eligibility :

Students must be enrolled in the Bachelor of Commerce (including Bachelor of Commerce dual degree programs) or Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) full-time. Bachelor of Commerce students must have a completed a year of study in the program already (be second year or higher).

Selection of award :

(1) For the selection process, the Head must establish a selection committee, comprising

  • - (a) the Head, or nominee, as chair of the committee;
  • (b) a representative of academic staff teaching in the field of finance nominated by The Frank Finn, Professor of Finance; and
  • (c) a representative from the Alumni of the UQ Business School, nominated by The University of Queensland Endowment Fund Board, with University staff comprising the majority.

(2) The scholarship is awarded to the applicants showing greatest merit as demonstrated by -

  • (a) financial disadvantage;
  • (b) academic achievement; and
  • (c) any other matter which the selection committee considers relevant to the applicant’s future success in a commerce profession.

(3) The selection committee may decide to interview short-listed applicants.

Scholarship value : Annual income from endowment, based on number of scholarships
