Awarded to a female student who attended a Queensland secondary school in the previous year to the award year.
Originally established as the WH and HW Harris Scholarship in 1969 by a bequest of $6000 from Mrs Bessie Florence Harris in memory of her late husband William Henry Harris, a former Headmaster of the Manly and East Brisbane State Schools, who served in both World Wars, and their only child Hector William, who was lost on active service in 1947.
The bursary will be awarded to a female student of the University who:
Preference will be given to a lineal descendant of a member of the War Widows Guild, Australia, Queensland Branch.

Selection is based on academic achievement in first year of study. Preference will be given to a lineal descendant of a person eligible to be accepted as a member of the War Widows Guild, Australia, Queensland Branch.
