The candidate will carry out his/her research work focused on microstructural design in lightweight steels to improve their properties. He/she will receive training in transversal skills and will have the opportunity to disseminate his/her work at National and/or European events.
The research will involve processing of steels in a thermo-mechanical simulator GLEEBLE 3800, heat treatments, microstructural and mechanical characterization of the developed materials, development of theoretical models relating microstructure and mechanical behaviour of the designed steels. The research activities will be carried out in a strong collaboration with the European project partners including the largest steel manufacturer ArcelorMittal Gent (Belgium). This project will lead to a PhD that will be defended at Carlos III University of Madrid.
