We seek a Postdoctoral Research Associate to undertake research for the CHI Lab, led by David Clifton, Professor of Clinical Machine Learning.  The postholder will be based in the Oxford lab (Institute of Biomedical Engineering, Old Road Campus Research Building, Headington), while collaborating with the Wellcome Trust “Flagship Centre” within the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam - this houses over 300 researchers specializing in infectious disease and global healthcare, in one of Vietnam’s largest hospitals and the hub for a network of Oxford clinical sites across South-East Asia.  The post would involve visiting OUCRU several times per year.

This full-time post is fixed-term up until 28 February 2023.  The position would suit researchers interested in career acceleration through joint publications in the engineering and clinical literature, entrepreneurship and patenting opportunities, which are strongly encouraged alongside co-supervision of Oxford doctoral students, junior researchers, and other appropriate opportunities.

You should possess a PhD (or near completion) in signal processing, computer science, machine learning, statistics, or other cognate discipline, and have a track record of successful publication in the relevant literature. You will be an independent thinker, excited by the challenges of establishing a world-leading activity in healthcare for resource-constrained settings; and have expertise with machine learning.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Prof. David Clifton (davidc@robots.ox.ac.uk).  For more information about working at the Department, see

www.eng.ox.ac.uk/about/work-with-us/

Only online applications received before midday on5 January 2021 can be considered. You will be required to upload a covering letter/supporting statement, including a brief statement of research interests (describing how past experience and future plans fit with the advertised position), CV and the details of two referees as part of your online application.  The Department holds an Athena Swan Bronze award, highlighting its commitment to promoting women in Science, Engineering and Technology.
