PhD position in computational biology to investigate the cellular phase of Alzheimer’s disease using spatial transcriptomics
Description

http://www.vib.be/en/research/scientists/Pages/Bart-De-Strooper-Lab.aspx The Laboratory for the Research of Neurodegenerative Diseases headed by prof. Bart De Strooper is a vibrant environment where key issues related to Alzheimer’s disease are tackled. We are currently looking for a highly motivated Ph.D. candidate to join our multidisciplinary project on the cellular response to Alzheimer’s pathology (De Strooper and Karran, Cell, 2016).

In this project, we will investigate data generated using Spatial Transcriptomics of an Alzheimer’s Disease mouse model (Chen and Lu, Cell, 2020) and integrate with both in-house and 3rd party multi-omics data. The goal is to create a detailed understanding of spatial and transcriptional changes of all relevant cell types around amyloid-beta plaques in a mouse brain. Detailed understanding hereof will yield new and more detailed hypotheses on how to approach AD in human patients.
