The Leibniz Institute on Aging - Fritz Lipmann Institute (FLI), Jena (Germany), is a federal and state government-funded research institute and member of the Leibniz Association (Wissenschaftsgemeinschaft Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz e.V.). FLI’s internationally visible and highly competitive research is focused on understanding the mechanisms of aging and associated age-related diseases. Scientists from over 40 countries are currently investigating the molecular mechanisms of aging and the occurrence of age-related diseases. Our aim is to create the basis for new approaches in medicine as a way to improve health in the elderly (www.leibniz-fli.de).

The Research Group “Regeneration in Hematopoiesis: Immunology of Aging” headed by Prof. Claudia Waskow invites applications for a

Postdoc (m/f/d)

Tasks and Challenges:

The Research Group is interested in hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) research focusing on the regulation of blood stem cell function. We use state of the art technologies to uncover novel cell intrinsic and cell extrinsic mechanisms important for HSC function in the embryo and throughout life. Our team focuses on HSCs from mice and human and we have a particular interest in uncovering and modulating pathways important for stem cell fate choice decisions in vivo.

We are seeking for a highly motivated new lab member to support and develop a project on novel strategies for the expansion of human HSCs in vitro and in vivo. The project will focus on cellular and molecular communication between HSCs and their microenvironment. We are looking for someone very reliable and communicative who is motivated of getting involved in research on hematopoiesis.

The position is available at your earliest convenience.
