The group of Prof. Leblebici is a part of Center for Industrial Process Technology (CIPT) division situated in KU Leuven Campus Diepenbeek. CIPT performs research on the development of new technologies and their implementation in existing (bio) chemical processes. The research group focuses on the miniaturization and intensification of chemical production processes and valorisation of waste products. Technologies include the use of ultrasound, green chemicals, continuous reactors, photo chemistry and artificial intelligence.

The postdoctoral researcher is going to work on the C²O project, recently funded by the Flemish VLAIO.  This is a joint project of KU Leuven and UGent bringing together a team of world-class experts on catalysis and reaction engineering. With this effort we aim to accelerate chemical processes in order to produce essential building blocks for the chemical industry from CO2 using light and temperature. Our research group will engineer and manufacture a novel, structured photo-thermal catalytic reactor with high energy efficiency and productivity.

The postdoctoral researcher will work together with a doctoral student who is an expert in transparent monolithic (scaffold) flow reactor design. The researcher will be synthesizing translucent porous pellets and structures that can withstand high temperature while successfully carrying the catalyst. The researcher is also expected to bring translucent material synthesis know-how and apply for self funding within the scope of carbon capture and utilization. This funding effort will be closely guided by the team of experts in CIPT.

The successful candidate will be offered a post-doc position to become part of our international team with global research and industry links. Funding can be initially provided for a period of 1 year, with the option of extension to 2 years.
