Work tasks

The research in the position is focused on forest nutrition management on mineral and peat soils. The major aim is to understand the potential and find tools, through research and development, for increasing biomass production and forest vitality by improving forest nutrition in a sustainable way.

The research work is based on the analyses of the results of empirical and modelling studies focusing on the effects of nutrition management on forest growth and forest ecosystem functioning and the environmental impacts in changing climatic conditions. The research results will be transferred into practice by developing forest nutrition management practices and decision- making tools. Researcher will work in a multi-disciplinary international research team and communicate with stakeholders.

Qualifications

A person to be appointed has a doctoral degree in forest sciences or other relevant discipline. In practice, success in the position requires skills and knowledge of forest ecosystem nutrient dynamics at tree, stand and landscape level and of environmental impacts of forest fertilization. Understanding of forest and ecological modelling and statistical methods used for analyses of empirical data are required in the work. The appointed person needs strong track record in applying and receiving research funding, managing research projects and in publishing scientific results. Funding collaboration with companies and other stakeholders is an advantage. We expect initiative and willingness to work in international multi-disciplinary research team and to communicate with research partners and stakeholders.

Salary

 The position is at complexity level 9-13 in Luke's salary system. Therefore, the position-specific salary component is EUR 3,579.47-5,650.29 per month. In addition to the position-specific salary component, a salary component based on personal performance will be paid. It can be at most 50 % of the position-specific salary component. The applicant may also present a separate salary request.
