Curatorial Scholar Awards

Curatorial Scholar Awards are intended for curators who are based in museums in the UK and engaged in significant curatorial work in any field of British art.

Eligibility

Awards are open to curators in museums in the UK. Applications from curators at municipal and regional museums, and those with a demonstrated need for research funding, are especially encouraged. Applicants should be engaged in significant curatorial work in any field of British art. Projects are expected to relate to the curatorial responsibilities of the applicant and may include research pertaining to online resources and cataloguing, collections interpretation and other writing projects, the development of exhibitions or collections displays, and related publications or collections development and object care.

Award Period

Awards are offered for a period of four consecutive weeks, which may take place between July 1, 2018, and June 30, 2019.

Travel and Accommodation

Awards cover the cost of travel to and from New Haven and provide accommodation as well as a living allowance. Recipients are required to be in residence in New Haven for the duration of their award and must be free of all other significant professional responsibilities during their stay.

Apply

The closing date for the 2018/2019 awards is Monday, January 15, 2018. Applicants should complete the online application and upload a cover letter (no more than one page), a CV, and an outline of the project (no more than three pages) that includes an indication of the resources to be consulted at the Center and anticipated outcomes. Two letters of recommendation, one of which should indicate the support of the applicant’s institution, should be forwarded directly to ycba.research@yale.edu by the same deadline. ”Curatorial Awards” should be stated in the subject line.
