Award or Grant Description $$  $28,854

To assist students with their living costs and tuition fees, the University of Queensland has partnered with the Australian Government to provide PhD students with the Earmarked Scholarships for the academic year 2022-2023.

This scholarship scheme is funded by the Australian Government for all postgraduate research (HDR) students, international or domestic, at UQ. The funds will cover living and tuition fees costs. The stipend is valued at $28,854, along with the tuition fee of the applied programme and health cover.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Students from all foreign countries and their home countries can apply.
  • Eligible Course or Subjects: Any of the PhD programme available at UQ across any preferred study area can be applied for.
  • Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
  • The applicants must be future UQ students.

Offered Benefits

The successfully selected candidates will be given a living stipend of $28,854 per annum tax-free (indexed annually), tuition fees covered, and Single Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for up to 3.5 years with the possibility of 1 extension.

Application Process

  • How to Apply: Students need to start their PhD applications online on the university portal. To apply for the scholarship, students must follow the steps below:
  • Under the ‘Scholarship and Collaborative study’ section, students must select –
  • ‘My higher degree is not collaborative.’
  • ‘I am applying for or have been awarded a scholarship or sponsorship.’
  • UQ Earmarked Scholarship type
  • Supporting Documents: The students are required to present the following documents to the university:
  • Academic transcripts
  • Degree certificate
  • Academic CV
  • Passport
  • Letter of recommendation/reference
  • Proof of citizenship
  • Admission Requirements: The students must meet the university’s requirements for future PhD students.
  • Language Requirement: The students must submit scores of the following English language proficiency tests:
  • IELTS – 7.0
  • TOEFL PBT – 570
  • TOEFL IBT – 87
