Post-doctoral or PhD Researcher in Applied Macroeconomics and/or Political Economy

The Chair of Applied Macroeconomics is associated to KOF Swiss Economic Institute  and part of the Department of Management, Technology and Economics  (D-MTEC) at ETH Zurich. We are looking for a Post-doctoral or PhD Researcher in Applied Macroeconomics and/or Political Economy. 


Project background

The Chair's expertise lies in the empirical analysis of broad macroeconomic and policy-relevant topics. The Chair’s empirical work employs a wide spectrum of different methodologies, ranging from sophisticated panel econometrics to time-series approaches and random control procedures. Using these and other estimation techniques, it addresses current macroeconomic policy problems, drawing on data at the national level as well as geospatial information and microeconomic firm, household, and other types of data.


Job description

You will apply econometric methods using macro- and/or microeconomic data to answer policy-relevant macroeconomic and political economy related research questions. The focus of this position will be on research. Depending upon your preferences, it might furthermore involve a small teaching load. 


We offer

We offer internationally competitive working conditions. The starting date is open and its duration will initially be for 18 months with the prospect of a further extension to up to in total six years. Gross salary will be in accordance with the regulations of the ETH Zürich .


Your profile

We are looking for an outstanding researcher with a PhD in Economics or interested in acquiring one. You should have the potential to conduct high-quality research, show curiosity about the topics of the Chair and have a strong preference pursuing an academic career. An excellent command of English is required; a good command of German is recommended.
