6th edition of POESAM: Driving Innovation for Development
The Orange Prize for Social Entrepreneur in Africa and the Middle East (POESAM) showcases entrepreneurs who offer products or services using ICT in innovative ways to help improve the living conditions of populations on health Plans, agricultural, educational, energy, commercial or industrial. It therefore supports people with ideas and start-ups from the age of three who put innovation at the service of development.
In six years of existence, the POESAM was a great success as evidenced by more than 2,600 projects submitted, many from Tunisia. This mobilization of candidates reflects a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a powerful potential of telecommunications in Africa and the Middle East. Therefore, and for this new edition, the POESAM takes more extensive, spanning the Middle East and enriched with a special "Cultural Content".
This year, four contractors will be well rewarded in the amount of respectively the equivalent of 25 000, 15 000 and 10 000 euros and the equivalent of 5000 euros for the winner of the special prize.
Nominations are open today on the new portal dedicated to the Orange African entrepreneurs and the Middle East entrepreneurclub.orange.com.
Customers are also invited to participate in the selection of the "Blow of heart" by voting for their favorite candidate.
With financial support, the 10 finalists and the "Blow of heart" will benefit from support favored by the NGO "Grow Movement" for a period of 6 months.
2nd edition of POESIT: More support local entrepreneurship
Because the ambition of Orange Tunisia is to be the strategic partner of digital transformation in Tunisia and the key partner for innovative social start-ups, the operator awards in the POESAM and for the second consecutive year a price national, the Orange Prize for Innovative social Venture Tunisien (POESIT) 10 000 TD for the best technological social project based on the deployment of a mobile application. The winner will also be joined by experts from the free Orange Develop Center to develop or improve its citizens' mobile solution. In addition, Orange Tunisia has decided to encourage gender diversity in the social technological entrepreneurship, dedicating a special price (4G smartphones) to the best women team.
In previous editions of POESAM and POESIT many young Tunisian entrepreneurs have filed their nominations, including "success stories" as Amine Chouaieb and start up Chifco, winner in 2013 of POESAM Mohamed Wael Soltani, promoter Karhbetna, Wala Kasmi, president of Youth Decides / I Decide, Marwen Zmerli founder Mina7 ... so why not you?
How to apply?
Any contractor who is over 21 years old or any legal entity under three years without restriction of nationality, may participate free of charge to POESAM and POESIT. The projects must provide for deployment of the service in at least one of the 18 countries in Africa and the Middle East where Orange operates.
The submission of applications is open from 18 May to 21 September 2016 on the site entrepreneurclub.orange.com.
The award ceremonies will take place in November 2016 at the AfricaCom Awards in Cape Town (South Africa) for POESAM and January 2017 for the POESIT.
