Manufacturing, Agribusiness and Services (MAS) is one of IFCs key industry groups responsible for a significant portion of IFCs business volume, profitability and development reach. MAS engages in a wide range of sub-sectors including agribusiness, forestry, manufacturing, chemicals, healthcare, education, property, retail, and other areas, with both investment and advisory services delivered globally to IFCs clients through its global network.

The MAS Latin America and the Caribbean (MAS LAC) team is seeking a qualified and experienced Associate Investment Officer to structure and process projects in the region. He/she will also assist in business development and portfolio work, including restructurings, reschedulings and equity supervision. The candidate should have demonstrated track record in leading the commitment of projects, preferably across MAS sectors. The position will be based in Sao Paulo, Brazil or Ciudad de Mexico, Mexico.


  Transaction execution and portfolio work in MAS LAC
  Evaluate, structure, negotiate, and close new MAS transactions, portfolio restructurings, reschedulings, capital increases, equity sales, etc.
  Develop innovative and appropriate financial structures for complex transactions.
  Participate or lead negotiations as appropriate; use financial competencies and personal influencing skills to overcome impasses and lead negotiations to a successful outcome.
  Work independently and with more senior staff to develop a strong pipeline of good quality investment opportunities.
  Mentor junior staff on all aspects of IO work.
  Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, global and regional private businesses, banking and multilateral partners to develop investment opportunities.
  Coordinate closely with advisory and environmental & social teams to add value to our clients businesses, find pragmatic solutions to the specific sector challenges, and achieve sustainable development impact.
  Collaborate with the upstream team.


Selection Criteria

  Masters degree in a related field and at least 48 years of relevant experience. Related fields of education include business, finance, or economics or an area of expertise specific to a sector, subject matter, or industry specialty. A proven track-record of sourcing, structuring and closing investments, preferably across Manufacturing, Agribusiness and Services (MAS) sectors.
  5+ years of experience in finance with a proven track-record of sourcing, structuring and closing investments, preferably across MAS sectors.
  Extensive experience in financing and supervision work.
  Strong financial and credit skills; demonstrated ability to structure a variety of financial instruments and to process complex transactions.
  Business development and client relationship skills, track record and ability to focus on clients needs effectively.
  Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Spanish and/or Portuguese.
  Ability to interact directly and independently with the management of clients and prospects.
  Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues from various cultural backgrounds.
  Ability to mentor more junior staff.
  Genuine commitment to sustainable development and to highest ethical standards.
  Willingness to travel extensively.
