The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) provides grants to refugees at universities and institutions through the German Albert Einstein Academy for the Refugee Initiative Fund (DAFI) funded by the German government.

Qualifications for these grants include being a recognized refugee. Albert Einstein's program aims to provide refugees with vocational training for future work. Scholarships are awarded only for study programs in the country of asylum. Provided that the grants are renewed after a full academic year. UNHCR helps graduates of these grants return home and contribute to the rebuilding of their countries.

The Albert Einstein program includes tuition and tuition costs and provides a living allowance to the needs of refugee students.
