International Rescue Committee is offering a job as a Protection Mainstreaming Coordinator in Lebanon. IRC’s programs aid Syrian refugees and vulnerable Lebanese in host communities across multiple sectors: education, livelihoods, protection, women's empowerment and protection and child protection in close coordination with the Lebanese Government and broader Humanitarian Community. The Protection Mainstreaming Coordinator is responsible for liaising with members of the Protection Working Group as well as Non-Protection Actors to develop and execute a Protection Mainstreaming work plan to contribute to improving the safety and dignity of all beneficiaries, including vulnerable and marginalized groups.

 Responsibilities:

The Protection Mainstreaming Coordinator is responsible for five basic objectives:

[1] Awareness raising of and capacity building on protection mainstreaming and protection core concepts.

[2] Make recommendations to enhance protection mainstreaming in the relevant sectors.

[3] Support the implementation of corrective actions and monitor progress.

[4] Adapt the global level protection mainstreaming checklist to the context of Lebanon to be disseminated across the sector.

[5] Support Advocacy efforts based on results of assessments.

 Job Requirements:

The Protection Mainstreaming Coordinator will have a strong technical understanding of Protection and Protection Mainstreaming and be able to take on and implement activities prioritized by relevant coordination bodies. The successful applicant will be an advocate for Protection & Protection Mainstreaming across prioritized sectors (e.g. Health, Shelter). The Job Requirements are as follows:

[1] Candidate must hold a Masters degree in Law, International Law, Human Rights, International Affairs, or related field.

[2] Candidate must have a minimum of three years of professional experience in protection work at the field level; professional experience in Coordination a plus.

[3] Desirable: Three years of overseas professional experience in program implementation including monitoring and evaluation.

[4] Must be fluent in English (written & spoken). Arabic is an asset.

[5] Previous working experience with UNHCR or OCHA is an asset.

[6] Knowledge or experience of the coordination structures in large-scale humanitarian operations is an important asset.

[7] Strong understanding of protection principles and likely protection concerns.

[8] Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities without daily supervision.

[9] Strong interpersonal, intercultural and communication skills.

[10] Demonstrated analytical skills and report writing experience required

[11] Willingness to travel internally in Lebanon 30-40%.
