The Writing Center at the American University in Cairo is offering fully-funded fellowships to students who wish to pursue full-time study in the graduate program of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and School of Global Affairs and Public Policy. These fellowships are awarded to outstanding students and provide them with valuable information and expertise in academic teaching as well as involve them as tutors in AUC's Mohamed Taymour Writing and Communication Center.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Full admission to a graduate program in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences or the School of Global Affairs and Public Policy.
  • Satisfy AUC graduate admissions requirements to a graduate program in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences or the School of Global Affairs and Public Policy.
  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale, or equivalent.
  • For continuing students; to retain the fellowship, the recipient must maintain a GPA of 3.2. 
  • Financial need.

Duration:

Two academic years and the intervening summer session, with a review every semester to ensure good academic performance.

Program Funding:

The fellowship covers:

  • Tuition fees for a maximum of nine credits per semester.
  • Student services and activities fees.
  • Monthly stipend. 
  • Medical service and health insurance fees (for international students).

Fellows Responsibilities:

  • Fellows are assigned 12 hours of work per week in the writing center.
  • A Teaching Assistantship mandatory training must be completed only once if the fellow is involved in teaching assistantship duties.
