Queen Mary University in partnership with Chevening is offering an opportunity for 2 law students to win one-year masters program in QM School of Law (including Centre for Commercial Law Studies). Queen Mary works closely with the Chevening - the UK government’s international scheme aimed at developing global leaders. Every year university host a large cohort of the 1500 Chevening Scholars who come to study at universities all over the UK. In addition the standard Chevening Awards, Queen Mary is a Chevening Partner and funds additional awards for those who are selected by Chevening.

Requirements: 

Selected Candidates Should Be:

  • Ambitious, with leadership potential, and a strong academic background.
  • Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory, and not to be a British or dual British citizen.
  • Have completed all components of an undergraduate degree that will enable you to gain entry onto a postgraduate program at a UK university by the time submit the application.
  • Have at least two years of work experience, be it:
    • Full-time employment
    • Part-time employment
    • Voluntary work
    • Paid or unpaid internships
  • Apply to three different eligible UK university courses and have received an unconditional offer from one of these choices by 16 July 2020.
  • Meet the Chevening English language requirement by 16 July 2020:
    • Academic IELTS  Overall score of 6.5 with a minimum score in each component 
    • Pearson PTE Academic Overall score of 5.8.
    • TOEFL iBT Overall score of 79. 
    • C1 Advanced (formerly Cambridge English: Advanced [CAE]) Overall score of 176 
    • Return to your country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after your award has ended.

You are not eligible for a Chevening Scholarship if you:

  • Hold refugee status in a non-Chevening eligible country. Applicants who are citizens of a Chevening-eligible country and who hold refugee status in a Chevening-eligible country are eligible for a scholarship.
  • Have previously studied in the UK with funding from a UK Government-funded scholarship.

Funding:

As Chevening Scholarships are fully-funded, your award includes the following:

  1. university tuition fees
  2. a monthly stipend
  3. travel costs to and from the UK
  4. an arrival allowance
  5. a homeward departure allowance
  6. the cost of one visa application
  7. Chevening Scholars also benefit from a year-long program of events helping you experience the best of British culture and to make the most of your time in the UK.

Supporting Documentation:

You must provide the following supporting documentation:

  1. Degree transcripts. Please provide a transcript for your degree study. If your degree was awarded by an overseas institution, you should supply a transcript of your marks for each year of your studies and a copy of your degree certificate together with a certified translation if the document is not in English. 
  2. Referee details. Please provide the contact details of one or two referees on your application as required.  You should provide details of an academic referee if you are currently studying, or if you have graduated within the last five years.  Professional references may be considered if you have graduated more than five years ago.
  3. Statement of purpose.
  4. Your statement of purpose should explain why you want to study your chosen program and how it will help your future career aspirations.
  5. Curriculum Vitae (CV)/ Resume.
  6. English Language certificate.
