Walt Disney offers a Product Design Internship, as selected Interns will be members of the Design team within Disney Parks, Experiences and Products segment, which includes Disney’s iconic travel and leisure businesses. Interns will work alongside other designers, product owners, and developers, take on the responsibility for creating the design of outstanding digital products to enhance the Guest experience. This internship will take place in Washington, USA.

Required Qualifications:

  • Basic Qualifications:
    1. Must be enrolled in a college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program, or have graduated from a college/university within the past six months, or currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship.
    2. Must be at least 18 years of age.
    3. Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
    4. Must possess unrestricted work authorization.
    5. Working experience designing and prototyping with tools such as Sketch, Illustrator, Adobe CC, Invision and Framer.
    6. Solid understanding of the web, mobile web and native apps (iOS and Android).
    7. A passion for data and the impact of design on the consumer.
    8. Ability to anticipate and design for user needs by incorporating research and analytics.
    9. Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
    10. Ability to listen effectively, respectful of others’ perspectives and contributions, and be able to both offer and accept feedback openly.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    1. Experience in the travel/hospitality industry.
    2. Experience designing branded e-commerce and transactional experiences.
    3. Experience in motion design and/or illustration.
    4. Familiarity with front-end mobile engineering.
    5. Basic understanding of HTML, CSS and JS/JQuery.

Note that:

  1. The approximate dates of the internship are January through May 2020. Interns must be fully available for the duration of the internship.
  2. Interns must provide own transportation to/from work location, and be able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship

Duties:

  1. Design original, useful and elegant digital experiences with the highest quality possible for guests of Disney Parks and Resorts worldwide.
  2. Approach work from a multidisciplinary, holistic perspective – apply a broad range of capabilities across the design discipline including user experience and interface design – to define and design complete product solutions.
  3. Collect and synthesize qualitative and quantitative research to inform and validate design decisions within current and future projects.
  4. Interpret, infuse and leverage Disney's unique brands and properties to deliver on high expectations from Disney's guests.
  5. Partner with other designers and collaborate with cross-functional teams – including product management, technology, and consumer insights – to take work from ideation to reality.
