Comment: Full-time, rising second year students studying in the College of Engineering Department of Computer Science and Engineering with an interest in working in the software industry in the State of Michigan after graduation will be eligible to apply and join the Leinweber Software Scholars cohort starting their sophomore year. The Scholarship awards will be renewable for a total of up to six (6) semesters (i.e., sophomore, junior, and senior years). Renewing recipients must be full-time students with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA within the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. Recipients will be Michigan residents from counties with fewer than 300,000 residents, and that graduated from a high school in the State of Michigan and are U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Preference will be given to students from Osceola County. Applicants will be required to write a brief essay, no more than 500 words, regarding their interest in working in the Michigan based software industry after graduation. Renewing recipients will write an annual renewal letter updating the Donor on their academic and personal endeavors over the past year, and their continued interest in the Michigan software industry. Each scholar will be awarded at least fifty percent of MSU’s annual tuition.
