Established by the Zhejiang Province, the Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship program has been created to attract international students to study at higher education institutions (HEIs) in the Zhejiang province. This China scholarship program aims to encourage outstanding international students to pursue higher education in Zhejiang by providing them with scholarships to cover tuition and accommodation fees.

The scholarship program also aims to make Zhejiang province institutions well known in the world. The program is open for all foreign students who are currently enrolled or planning to attend Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Zhejiang Province to pursue a Bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, doctoral degree, or as a long-term general scholar. Please find below the list of HEIs in Zhejiang that are eligible to host international students under this scholarship scheme.

Zhejiang (浙江 – Zhèjiāng) is an eastern, coastal province of the People’s Republic of China. Some important cities in the province are Hangzhou (the capital and largest city), Ningbo, and Wenzhou. Zhejiang is bordered by Jiangsu and Shanghai to the north, Anhui to the northwest, Jiangxi to the west, and Fujian to the south. The province has more than 55 million population with a nominal GDP of CNï¿¥5.62 trillion (US$849 billion) as of 2018. The province’s economy is based on electromechanical industries, textiles, chemical industries, food and construction materials. The province got its name from the Qiantang River, which was previously called the Zhe Jiang (“Crooked River”).

Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship Benefits

The Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship can be used to cover tuition and accommodation fees. The provided scholarship value is shown below:

Class A Scholarship

The Class A Scholarship provides a lump sum of 30,000 RMB/year. A Scholarship sponsors excellent international students pursuing a master’s degree or above in Zhejiang Province.

Class B Scholarship

The Class B Scholarship provides a 20,000 RMB/year. B Scholarship sponsors excellent international students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Zhejiang Province.

Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship Eligibility

To apply for this scholarship program to study in China, candidates should:

  • be non-Chinese citizens and be in good health.
  • comply with the laws and regulations in China, and comply with the rules and disciplines in the host university.
  • have a good knowledge of Chinese and provide proofs such as HSK certificates or other Chinese learning or Chinese examination certificates. Applicants who apply for programs taught in English must provide IELTS, TOEFL or GRE Certificates or other English language proficiency certificates.
  • have a good academic record which is among the top of the class.
  • NOT be awarded with any Chinese Government Scholarships.
  • Academic requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree or for two/three-year college degree applicants should have obtained senior high school diploma or equivalent education.
    • Master’s degree applicants should have obtained a bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, and be able to get recommendation letters from 2 professors/assistant professors.
    • Doctoral degree applicants should have obtained a master’s degree or equivalent, and be able to get recommendation letters from 2 professors/assistant professors.
  • Age limits:
    • Bachelor’s degree or for two/three-year college degree applicants should be under the age of 30.
    • Master’s degree applicants should be under the age of 35.
    • Doctoral degree applicants should be less than 40 years old.
