The Logan Nonfiction Program invites nonfiction writers, documentary filmmakers, photojournalists, and multimedia creators to participate in the Fall 2020 Fellowship.

Fellowships range between 5-10 weeks and take place on the Carey Institute for Global Good’s historic 100-acre campus in upstate New York, USA.

Eligibility Criteria:

The Logan Nonfiction Program accepts applications from:
- Nonfiction writers.
- Photojournalists.
- Documentary filmmakers.
- Podcasters and radio reporters.
- Multimedia creators.
Applicants must be at work on a long-form project in order to apply (e.g.: an article, book, film, collection, podcast, etc.).
The program accepts applications from academics, memoirists, and non-professional journalists, as long as the intended audience of the project is the general public.
English proficiency.

Fellowship Fields:

The fellowship is particularly interested in supporting projects that examine the most pressing issues of the day, including but not limited to: conflict and security; democracy and governance; education; environment and climate change; food security; gender, race, sexual orientation, disability and intersectionality; globalization; health; inequality and exclusion; media and journalism; social justice; and sustainability and resilience.

Selection Criteria:

Fellows are selected for the program based on the quality, relevance, professional experience and promise of the applicant’s work.

Funding:

Tuition fees will be covered in addition to the provision of lodging, meals, workspace, and professional guidance.
The fellowship does not cover travel costs.

About the Logan Nonfiction Program:

The Logan Nonfiction Program’s mission is to empower nonfiction writers, documentary filmmakers, photojournalists, and multimedia creators to complete their work. The program seeks to assemble a diverse and inclusive community of fellows working on socially relevant political, health, environmental, human rights and justice topics. Since its inception in 2015, it has directly supported more than 150 journalists from around the world, many of whom have now moved on to publish their work as a result of the program. Alumni include award-winning journalists and filmmakers as Adrian Nicole LeBlanc, Daniel Ellsberg, Rania Abouzeid, Shane Bauer, Gary Knight, and Jaqueline Olive.
