The Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology invites applications for tenure-track faculty positions at Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor ranks. The department consists of a large number of faculty conducting research in cutting-edge technologies such as smart cities, big data, autonomous systems, Internet of Things, and 5G wireless networks in a wide scope of fields including Solid-State Electronics and Photonics; IC Design, Computer Architecture, and Embedded System; Biomedical Engineering; Data Science and Artificial Intelligence; and Wireless Communications and Networking.
The Department is interested in outstanding candidates and will prioritize novelty, significance, and promise of the candidate’s research over any specific area of specialization.
Applicants should have a PhD with demonstrated strength in research and commitment to teaching. Successful candidates are expected to lead active research programs and to teach both graduate and undergraduate courses. An interdisciplinary knowledge and application of different disciplines can be an advantage.

The Department has about 40 faculty members, 400 undergraduate students and 300 postgraduate students. It provides an excellent environment for multidisciplinary research, with close links to other departments within engineering and to other schools through joint appointments and active involvement in cross-cutting institutes and centers in the area of Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, and Energy. Salary is highly competitive and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include medical/dental benefits and annual leave. Housing will also be provided where applicable. For appointment at Assistant Professor level, initial appointment will normally be on a three-year contract. A gratuity will be payable upon completion of contract.
