Substance abuse is a growing, dangerous problem that can ruin lives. In 2020 alone, 93,000+ Americans died from drug overdoses. Substance use can be particularly dangerous for teenagers who are still developing, but 20% of teenagers have abused prescription medications and half of new drug users are minors.
Substance use is not only a significant obstacle for teens who want to reach their education goals but also a problem that threatens all age groups and needs to be solved.
The Paige’s Promise Scholarship will support one student who plans to work on solving the substance use issue in their future career. Any high school or undergraduate student who aims to work towards substance use awareness, education, or recovery is eligible to apply.
