The Andalus Center for Tolerance and Anti-Violence Studies announces the second year application's opening for the "Andalus Online Learning" Academy in the Arabic language on issues of accountability, integrity, and transparency in the Arab region. The school aims to train 100 young men and women from the Arab region on issues of integrity and good governance, anti-corruption, media monitoring, fact-finding, election monitoring, monitoring the public budget and social responsibility of the private sector and other issues related to democratic systems and assessing their performance through various technological means in line with the technology developments around the world and a presentation of successful experiences around the world in this regard.

Training Details:

The Academy program consists of eight related training weeks with an average of 4 hours per week, starting from February 2020 until the end of April 2020. It includes readable content on accounting issues, election observation, anti-corruption, media monitoring, information verification, general budget monitoring, and corporate social responsibility and visual content through a video lecture with a group of experts from academics or working in the Arab region in these areas and includes discussion sessions and direct lectures with these experts on these issues and as part of the academy, participants will have to develop a project idea of their own about these are the issues, and at the end of the academic period, the best four of the participants will be chosen to give them a grant for a month in Tallinn, Estonia. Estonia is considered an oasis of electronic democracy in Europe and has great experience and advanced in the use of technology for all aspects of the democratic and political process, from voting to monitoring and accountability of officials and even businesses every day. During the grant period, the participants will be able to visit institutions of civil society in Estonia, ministries and official entities to learn about the experience of digitizing and developing democracy, and they will also be trained in a civil society institution.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Age 18-35 years.
  • The educational qualification is not less than high school or its equivalent from the different educational systems.
  • Fluency in Arabic.
  • Previous experience in this field is not required.
  • To be involved in civil society work, whether voluntary or paid work.
  • Good experience in dealing with the internet and electronic browsing.
  • Willingness to commit to the full training period.
  • Prepare to travel if you are one of the best four in the training course.
