Spotify is offering a job opportunity to Full Stack Engineers within the Curation Strategy team in New York, the United States for 2020. In this role, you will develop internal dashboards and tools that will unlock new pathways for creativity and amplify the editorial insight of the global team of playlist editors. If you are as passionate about music as you are about big data, this is the place for you. You will be helping the platform shape the future of editorial at Spotify by developing next generation curation tooling – enabling the global team of music experts to evolve their craft.

Responsibilities:

  1. Use your full-stack experience to design intelligent solutions that include web UIs and back-end services.
  2. Create the best experience for the editors by designing, building, scaling, and evolving Spotify’s ability to extract music and audience insights from our curation services and tooling.
  3. Engage with the data and engineering community at Spotify to collaborate on curation tooling – performing experiments and testing new ideas. 
  4. Take operational responsibility for the components that you develop.
  5. Engineer lasting solutions for surfacing critical data that helps Spotify understand how audiences engage with music and our editorial experiences.
  6. Work in an environment that supports your individual growth by providing you with challenging problems to solve and the freedom to acquire new skills in hack time, guilds, lectures and a variety of internal training courses. 
  7. You’ll work within a music team, working most closely with domain experts.

Qualifications:

  1. You enjoy working autonomously and would thrive in a cross-functional team environment – working most closely with domain experts.
  2. You enjoy seeing your work have an immediate impact – bringing value to your stakeholders.
  3. You’re interested in leveraging Spotify’s data to drive domain insights, strategies, and new capabilities.
  4. You’d be comfortable and confident in an experimental and fast-paced work environment.
  5. You’re excited about delivering end-to-end experiences and care about your software architecture across the front-end, back-end, and the APIs that glue them together.
  6. You are experienced with modern JavaScript coding, testing, debugging, and automation techniques.
  7. You care about web technologies, exploring data, user experience and design and use all of that for building user-friendly web applications.
  8. You have experience in back-end development and technologies such as Python or Java.
  9. You have experience with React (you may experience with additional modern web frameworks like Vue or Angular).
  10. You are passionate about writing high-quality code.
  11. You are interested in data processing but previous experience is not needed.
  12. You are passionate about what you do and have a high interest in keeping up with current best practices in your areas of expertise.
