The Search for Common Ground is offering an internship opportunity in Creative Content Production within the Communications Department in Washington, United States for 2020. The Creative Content Intern will report to the Manager of Audience and Content and assist in a variety of social media and digital outreach projects, including the launch of a new newsletter and the implementation of a global fundraising campaign. Through hands-on training, the Creative Content Intern will learn strategy and tactics for social media and communications that can be broadly applied to the nonprofit sector and marketing in general. The scope of the internship will be tailored to the intern’s strengths and experience, building on the individual’s skills. This is an unpaid internship with the option of earning college credit.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Contributing ideas to the Communications team’s creative brainstorms.
  2. Assisting in content creation for the Communications team.
  3. Researching topics related to peacebuilding, humanitarian and development work, and social causes.
  4. Assisting with the execution of the organization’s social media strategy.
  5. As internship descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  1. You have or are in the process of acquiring a bachelor's and/or graduate degree in journalism, communications, English, or a related subject.
  2. You are a good writer with impeccable grammar.
  3. You are passionate about social causes.
  4. You are familiar with innovative social and digital media content.
  5. You have a creative mind and a track record of engaging in creative endeavors at school or in extra-curricular activities.
  6. A portfolio of past creative work (writing, photography, design, etc.) is a strong plus.
  7. Knowledge of foreign languages, especially French or Arabic, is a strong plus.
  8. Applicants who can intern a minimum of 16 hours per week are preferred.
