UN Volunteers platform is offering an online volunteer opportunity for 25 experienced and creative online individuals, including one campaign coordinator, to support the UNV communications team with the development of an outreach/social media campaign to increase visibility and attract responders for the Volunteering Survey 2020 in the Arab States.

UNV and IFRC will chair a Global Technical Meeting (GTM 2020) at the 2020 HLPF as a key milestone for the Plan of Action to Integrate Volunteerism into the 2030 Agenda (POA). According to the POA General Assembly Resolutions and associated Secretary General’s Reports, the ‘foundations’ of the GTM 2020 will be built by national, regional and global level analyses of volunteering’s contribution to the 2030 Agenda, the sharing of good practices and the identification of ways to support volunteers beyond 2020. UNV will primarily play a role in generating new evidence to fill knowledge gaps. As agreed by the POA Technical Working Group (TWG), UNV will conduct an online, open survey to gather new evidence on public perceptions of volunteering for sustainable development.

Duration and working hours:

1-5 hours per week for an overall 16 weeks.

Eligibility criteria:

  1. Candidates should have previous experience in campaigning or strategy development.
  2. Good knowledge of social media platforms and marketing channels. 
  3. Excellent communication and strong writing and editing skills, experience with designing outreach strategies. 
  4. Experience in translating official documents from English into another language is required. 
  5. A degree in marketing, communications, or related field is considered an asset. 
  6. Excellent command of English and Arabic is required. 

Volunteer duties:

  1. Online volunteers will build and execute the outreach/social media campaign through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging, and audience identification. 
  2. Based on this, online volunteers will then create social media content and other necessary materials to support and execute the campaign.
