Online Volunteer with the UN: Support ReliefWeb's Outreach on Twitter

UN Volunteers platform is offering a volunteer opportunity, as it is looking for three skilled individuals to support ReliefWeb's outreach on Twitter. As ReliefWeb is a humanitarian information service provided by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). The service is managed by the Digital Services Section of OCHA's Information Management Branch.

It maintains a Twitter account (@reliefweb) through which promotes a growing number of free online training opportunities; interactive maps and products; and topics of interest to humanitarians responding to disasters and emergencies. ReliefWeb's editorial team monitors and collects information from more than 4,000 key sources, including humanitarian agencies at the international and local levels, governments, think-tanks, and research institutions, and the media. 

Duration and working hours:

1-5 hours per week for overall four weeks.

Eligibility criteria:

  1. Prior experience with Twitter is required, familiarity with Trello is preferred although not required. 
  2. Good command
  3. Please indicate if you have intermediate knowledge of French and/or Spanish. 

Volunteers' duties:

  1. The purpose of this project is to support ReliefWeb's 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week publishing schedule. 
  2. The volunteer(s) would help it to identify key webpages on ReliefWeb to promote on Twitter; draft status updates; find accompanying photos or images; and identify new opportunities for promoting content.
