Global Peace Photo Award is announcing the start of the “Children’s Peace Image of the Year” competition. This is an international photo competition for young people and is part of the Global Peace Photo Award, inspired by 1911 Nobel Peace Prize Laureates Alfred Fried and Tobias Asser.

The Competition Theme:

What does peace look like? This is a very special question and everybody has very own ideas about it. All the more so today, when we see so much of violence and unrest. Give your imagination free reign. Make your positive attitude visible in a photo. Show how you imagine peace. The best pictures will be exhibited across the world.

Requirements and Conditions:

  1. You can take part if you are 14 years or younger.
  2. By taking part in the photo competition, you confirm that your child is the author of the submitted photographs and that the individuals shown in the photos have agreed to a public presentation.
  3. By taking part the participant and/or its legal representative grant the organizer the right to publicly present the submitted photos in connection with the photo competition. In using the photo(s) the organizer will name the participant and the competition. The right of use is unlimited in terms of time, space, and medium. 
  4. If chosen, the participant will supply the image files in top quality.
  5. The use of the photos by the organizer is non-exclusive and non-commercial. This means that the participant may continue to use the photos and that the organizer does not pursue any commercial aims with the submitted photos.
  6. You can submit a photograph that has won an award or has been entered in another competition.
  7. For each submission (single image or story) you must have a caption in English, maximum length of 2000 characters. 
  8. Image creation date must be between Apr 12, 2017, and Dec 31, 2020.

Required Specifications:

  1. 1 to 50 projects per submission.
  2. 1 to 20 images per project.
  3. File type must be JPG.
  4. At least 1500px on the long edge.

Prize:-

  1. The best peace photo of the year – The Children’s Peace Image of the Year – wins 1000 euros.
  2. The winner and his or her parents are invited to the Global Peace Photo Award ceremony in Vienna. 
  3. If a photo group wins, one member of the group and his or her parents are invited to the ceremony. But all photos in the top 20 will be shown.

About Global Peace Photo Award:

The Global Peace Photo Award Children’s Peace Image of the Year founded in Vienna in 1861, is the longest-standing photographic society in German-speaking countries and the second-oldest in the world. It was founded at the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna. The Global Peace Photo Award is organized in partnership with UNESCO, the Austrian Parliament, the Austrian Parliamentary Reporting Association, the International Press Institute (IPI), the German Youth Photography Award and World Press Photo.
