The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is looking for a qualified Logistics Assistant to join the team and start working in Idleb, Syria for 2020. The Logistics Assistant is responsible for managing IRC Syria program assets & properties, including receipt, storage and dispatch of Syria program assets & equipment. He/she will also provide support to in warehouse and fleet management.

Responsibilities:

Warehousing, Assets & Property Management:

  1. Manage and document the receipt, handling, storage, release and reporting of goods through the warehouse(s).
  2. Ensure the maintenance of warehouse(s), fittings and equipment.
  3. Advise the Supply Chain Officer of warehouse-specific issues or improvements
  4. Maintain the warehouses activity book recording all outgoing and incoming receipts and activities.
  5. Monitor security of IRC’s storage and supplies.
  6. Receive completed warehouse’s request forms and prepare the goods for issuance.
  7. Ensure goods, equipment are signed for received on the request form (office expendables) or waybill (all other items).
  8. On a monthly basis, work with the Supply Chain Officer to reconcile the Warehouse register.
  9. Update the stock record cards and Database regularly.
  10. Conduct routine inventory inspection and submit timely reports to the Supply Chain Officer.
  11. Ensure that there is proper record management of the warehouse and the records are accurate and update.
  12. Correctly manage and account for all incoming and outgoing stock by using well maintained and detailed.
  13. Conduct the disposal process for all damaged assets in compliance with IRC and donor regulations documentation.
  14. Warehouse management, ensure cleanness, orderly storage of items, custodian of the warehouses keys.
  15. Prepare a monthly report for assets and the expendables Warehouse outlining all stock movements remaining balances, maintain prologs and registers.
  16. Maintain asset and warehouse records; ensure regular updates including details of the Asset, transferred, asset repaired, Asset breakdowns etc.

Transportation:

  1. Work with the Supply Chain officer to design a suitably staffed and equipped transport function to support the IRC’s vehicle operations and policies.
  2. Implement and direct IRC standard Vehicle policies and procedures, with particular attention to safety and security issues.
  3. Manage the contracts of the IRC hired vehicles.
  4. Support in managing the vehicle pool (if applicable).
  5. Develop weekly movement plans and vehicle schedules.
  6. Inspect and record condition of vehicles, by maintaining daily checklists file and ensuring that Vehicles log books are accurately filled.
  7. Collate data and contribute to preparation of accurate and timely reporting on IRC contracted vehicles.
  8. Work with the Supply Chain Officer to ensure that vehicles are prepared for routine and emergency security requirements.

Qualifications:

  1. Hold a degree or diploma in Procurement and Supply Chain Management or equivalent.
  2. Knowledge of generic warehouse management systems
  3. Work Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years warehouse or logistics experience preferably with an INGO.
  4. Competent in spoken and written English.
  5. Good analytical skills.
  6. Competent use of Microsoft Office applications
  7. Able to work under pressure, able to multitask and able to work in a multinational environment. 
  8. Team spirit and problem solving abilities.
