 The United Nations (UN) is offering a Public Information Internship that will last two months on a full-time basis but may be exceptionally extended for a maximum period of 6 months in Beirut, Lebanon for 2021. 

Responsibilities:

Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background; the intern’s assigned office as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Assist in organizing press conferences, meetings, briefings and other PR events by UNIC-Beirut.
  2. Provide media support to events organized by UNIC-Beirut.
  3. Draft in English and Arabic media advisories, press releases, press reviews, talking points, statements, news stories, etc.
  4. Update on daily basis UNIC-Beirut’s website and other social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc) with relevant UN news and events.
  5. Assist in taking photos and videos for media coverage and archiving.
  6. Assist in other ad-hoc activities as instructed.

Education:

  1. Be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
  2. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent).
  3. Have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation.
  4. Be computer literate, especially in Word and Excel. 
  5. Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
  6. Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Languages:

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For this internship, fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic is required. Knowledge of French is desirable.
