IRC requires a full time mental health and psychosocial support manager in Jordan. You will be responsible for the overall technical oversight of quality MHPSS services for North West Syria. The MHPSS manager will provide technical support of the clinical management of mental health conditions, to support programs offered inside Syria; additionally the manager will oversee a range of MHPSS efforts within health programs using the WHO/ UNHCR mental health gap action program (mhGAP) training and operational guidelines.

Eligibility:

You must have:

  • Advanced degree in psychology or counselling with psychotherapy, clinical work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in psychosocial support/psychology, in clinical and/or direct practice settings.
  • Knowledgeable in and has used the IASC MHPSS guidelines and best practices as part of their previous work experience.
  • Strong experience in clinical supervision, training and or coaching others.
  • Experience in assessment, program design, evaluation and technical training and supervision using WHO’s mental health gap action program (mhGAP).
  • Minimum of 1 year of management experience.
  • Experience in working with partners to implement program.
  • Solid understanding of case management and survivor-centered care in humanitarian settings.
  • Strong experience in training with good facilitation skills and ability to organize and implement training on sensitive topics.
  • Strong understanding of humanitarian principles and standards.
  • Demonstrated organizational, management and reporting skills.
  • Strong communication skills, demonstrated ability to liaise with partner organizations, strong written and oral communication skills, with ability to communicate effectively with different types of people, including representation and liaison with external parties.
  • Interpersonal qualities: Works well in teams and promotes teamwork, flexible and able to handle pressure and conflict well in a calm and constructive manner.
  • The ability to work under pressure with competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong problem solving skills with ability to be flexible, adaptable, and creativity in a challenging and fast-moving multicultural environment. 
  • High standards written and spoken English and Arabic.
  • Full professional competency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. 

Your Responsibilities:

You will be responsible of:

  1. Manage the MHPSS team and their activities remotely and organize the day to day work.
  2. Conduct regular team meetings.
  3. Review monthly mental health reports.
  4. Support the timely information sharing regarding challenges and needs at the field level.
  5. Provision of remote MHPSS technical support to mental health, community health teams as well as IRC partner organizations.
  6. Provide training on the identification and management of priority mental health conditions to health in line with WHO/UNHCR mhGAP intervention guidelines.
  7. Provide support for implementation of mhGAP programs utilizing WHO’s supervision and operational guidelines.
  8. Provide remote training, supportive supervision and monitoring and evaluation assistance to the psychologists providing psychological interventions, working inside the IRC supported health facilities.
  9. Ensure data collection tools are used across mental health teams; with a special focus on referrals and follow up.
  10. Collaboratively set up, monitor and develop community based non-specialized MHPSS activities.
  11. Research, learning and analysis
  12. Work with local partner organizations and IRC teams to conduct regular analysis of MHPSS data collected from field teams in order to note trends and inform program accordingly, as well as sharing information via reports as needed.
  13. Coordination and representation
  14. Support the  timely information sharing regarding challenges and needs at the field level.
  15. Represent IRC in internal and external forums as needed, MHPSS sub-working technical group.
  16. Participate in the regular MHPSS service mapping in coordination with the health cluster and MHPSS technical working group.
