Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan offers scholarships to international students who wish to study in Japan at Japanese universities/ colleges under the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Program.  The aim of this scholarship is to bridge friendship between Japan and Jordan.  They are looking for students who will contribute to the development of both countries and the wider world

Eligibility Criteria:

  • All application documents should organized, labelled clearly and numbered as in the Checklist.
  • Please put the Applicant Information Sheet on the top of the other documents. 
  • Only paper applications are accepted.  
  • Applications should be delivered to the Embassy before the deadline.  
  • Applications can be delivered by hand or by a post mail company
  • Please make sure not to use last year's application forms (Use 2021 applications).  
  • Please make sure to submit the right forms depending on the program you wish to apply for.  
  • The minimum academic requirements for the scholarship:
  1. The minimum average for the undergraduate scholarships: 80% for engineering and any other scientific major, 85% for medical and dental study, and 70% for the other majors.
  2. The minimum average for postgraduate scholarship:70% average on graduation on previous university education (undergraduate degree AND postgraduate degree if applying for a Ph.D. degree)

Evaluation Process:

  • Exams will be held during September 2020.  Only successful candidates who pass to the exams stage will be contacted by September 15th.
  • Interviews will be held during September 2020, only successful candidates who pass to the interview stage will be contacted by September 27th.
  • The schedule is subject to change depending on circumstances.
  • Applicants who pass the Embassy selection stage of the application procedure will be expected to contact the universities (contact will be provided to the preliminary candidates only) to try and gain admission. 
  • The final selection will be made by MEXT after the university placement has been confirmed.
  • Please note that the exams and interviews can only be conducted at the Embassy of Japan in Jordan. 
  • Online exams such as Skype or elsewhere are not available.

Benefits:

Scholarship covers allowance, education fees, and traveling expenses to Japan.
