EFMD invites creative individuals to participate in the Case Writing Competition for 2019, which encourages innovative and impactful case writing and teaching. 

Competition Categories for 2019:

  1. Innovative People Leadership Solutions in International Intergovernmental and Not-For-Profit Organizations
  2. Hidden Champions
  3. Responsible Business
  4. Women in Business
  5. African Business Cases
  6. Bringing Technology to Market
  7. Continuous Improvement: The Journey to Excellence
  8. Corporate Social Responsibility
  9. Entrepreneurship
  10. Family Business
  11. Finance and Banking
  12. Inclusive Business Models
  13. Indian Management Issues and Opportunities
  14. Latin American Business Cases
  15. MENA Business Cases
  16. Responsible Leadership
  17. Supply Chain Management

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Applicants may apply individually or as a team.
  2. Applicants must represent a school or an institution (applications from individuals are not accepted).
  3. Applicants may enter the category of their choice, except the one sponsored by their institution.
  4. Judges may submit a case in any category of their choice, except the one they are judging/their institution is sponsoring. They will not participate in the selection of prize winners in categories under which they submitted a case.

Case studies and associated material must:

  1. Be presented in English, include an executive summary and teaching notes.
  2. Be anonymous (the name of the application or his/her institution should not feature in any of the documents).
  3. Deal with real enterprises and/or organizations (company release form to be submitted if applicable).
  4. If your case has been published, please be aware that EFMD can only accept cases published after 1 January 2017.
  5. There is no limit on the length of the case.
  6. Cases that do not meet these conditions will be excluded from the competition.

Evaluation criteria:

  1. Content: The ability to create a strong and interesting learning experience.
  2. Form: A good balance between a well-told story and sufficient data.
  3. The teaching notes: Accompanying each submission to enhance the learner’s experience.
  4. Innovation: Ideas should improve teaching and student engagement.

Award and benefits:

  1. Be published by the Case Centre and gain wide visibility across the EFMD network.
  2. Get a chance to be awarded €2000, applicable to all the winning cases.
  3. Impact students of management institutions across the globe and practitioners seeking innovations.
  4. Engage with incumbent organizations in discussing strategic business solutions.
  5. You get a chance to be assessed by an international judging panel, who reviews more than 400 cases every year; have an impact on teaching management development and join a community of outstanding innovators.
  6. Through seventeen categories representing critical managerial areas, you can contribute to management development and some of its future challenges.
