The Chevening program invites ambitious Arab students wishing to complete their graduate studies and obtain a Master's degree to apply for a Chevening scholarship. The UK Government Chevening Program, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and its partner organizations. These scholarships are awarded to distinguished professionals with a strong academic background, wishing to obtain a one-year master's degree in any subject and at any university in the UK.

Funding:

Chevening Scholarships are fully-funded, cover the following:

  • university tuition fees.
  • a monthly stipend.
  • travel costs to and from the UK.
  • an arrival allowance.
  • a homeward departure allowances.
  • the cost of one visa application.
  • a travel grant to attend Chevening events in the UK.

Eligibility Criteria:

For Students

  • To be a Yemeni citizen
  • To return home for at least two years after the award has ended.
  • Must have an undergraduate degree to be able to enroll in a postgraduate program at a university in the United Kingdom. This is typically equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honors degree in the UK.
  • At least two years of work experience equivalent to 2800 hours of work provided that it is after completion of university study and not required to be from one job. The types of work experience that are eligible for Chevening can include:
  1. Full-time employment.
  2. Part-time employment.
  3. Voluntary work.
  4. Paid or unpaid internships.
  • Apply to three different eligible UK university courses and have received an unconditional offer from one of these choices before 16 July 2020.
  • Does not hold British citizenship or dual British citizenship.
  • Applicants who hold refugee status in a Chevening-eligible country are eligible for an award.
  • The applicant has not previously studied in the UK with funding from a UK Government-funded scholarship.
  • English proficiency: Chevening accepts English language tests from five providers:
  1. Academic IELTS overall score of 6.5
  2. Pearson PTE Academic Overall score of 5.8
  3. TOEFL iBT overall score of 79
  4. C1 Advanced (formerly Cambridge English: Advanced [CAE]) overall score of 176
  5. Trinity ISE II (level B2)

For Chosen Courses:

  • It should be full-time since the grant does not include part-time programs and Distance learning.
  • The duration of the program should not be less than nine months or more than 12 months.
  • Based in the UK and does not require study outside of the UK for more than a month.
  • Start in the autumn term (usually September/October).
  • Taught master’s (i.e. not research-focused MRes programs).
  • Lead to a master’s degree qualification as the scholarship does not include a Ph.D. or its equivalent.

Required Documents:

  • Valid passport or national ID.
  • Work Experience Certificate.
  • English Language certificate. 
  • A short biography.
  • Education documents (copies of certificates and/or transcripts).
  • The registration form is required names, phone number, and e-mail of two referees who know you academically or at work. If the candidate is selected, he/she must attach two Reference Letters before 25 February 2020.

Note: References must be written in English.
